After departing Melbourne at 5am on Sunday morning we walked into The Hilton at Frankfurt Airport exactly 24 hours later. Had a brief stop in Dubai, very long walk to the Emirates Lounge, quick shower, Ian skulled a beer and then straight to departure for our next flight. Last 30 minutes into Frankfurt were pretty rough for me, very please to get on the ground but pretty nauseous for some time after :(

Slept pretty well and caught a train and then walked to Adina Apartments located in Westend of Frankfurt, where we will be for the next 3 nights. With a local map and helpful tips from staff, we headed off towards the ‘Main’ River, Eiserner Steg (bridge) and Old Town. Bumped into a local (Martin) walking his dog and he redirected us to Main Tower Helana, a 200m skyscraper giving awesome views of the city. The Eiserner bridge reminded us of the one in Paris with all the love locks on it - felt we were too old to put one on ourselves. Old Town was really beautiful and heaps of work being done on the buildings, seems to be a mix of very old and new. Of course Ian had to try out the German beers - again! A recommendation from a work colleague of Ian’s saw us end up at Restaurant Klosterhof for dinner - nice way to finish the day. Strolled back to our apartment with tired legs and looking forward to sleep.
